For a long time, the blief had been held that aquatic vegetation was nonzonal and had no evident distributional zonality, Based on the data so far known, the present paper elucidated the very neglected fact that there existed indeed a relatively obvious zonality of both the horizontal and vertical distribution of aquatic vegetation in view of the floristics, geographical distribution and vegetation of water plants, Also, analysed were the causes resulting in taking aquatic vegetation for non-zonal vegetation, Finally, presented were the correct ways to understand the geographical distribution of aquatic vegetation
