Chitosan/starch blend microspheres were prepared by inverse emulsion method with formaldehyde and epichlorohydrin as crossslinkers.Their morphology was characterized with scanning election microscopy. The adsorption properties of microspheres were also examined. The results revealed that the microspheres
which have a spherical geometry and a smooth surface morphology
can be obtained when the mass ratio of chitosan and starch is between 5∶0 and 5∶5.Adsorption equilibriums of Cu
2+
and Pb
2+
onto the microspheres were reached in 6 h.When the mass ratio of chitosan and starch was 5∶1
the highest microsphere yield and lowest cost are earned under the premise of good adsorption capacity.
