Sixteen alkaliphilic strains were isolated from pulp wastewater of a fiber factory. The morphology and phenotypic characteristics showed that these trains displayed great diversity. Those strains of the gram-negative alkaliphilic bacteria producting spore were dominant. Those strains were classed into two families by amplified rDNA restriction analgsis(ARDRA) and 16S rDNA sequences
their fingerprinting patterns shows significant differences. The homology of six strains tested achieves above 98% on 16S rDNA sequences comparing to Bacillus and Paracoccus species which had reported
and the homology of three strains achieves above 99% with B.halodurans and B.wakoensis.
