We observed whistler waves

electrostatic solitary waves（ESW）

high frequency electrostatic modulated waves associated with magnetic reconnection with the data of Geotail.In this paper we concentrated on the whistler waves associated with magnetic reconnection in the tail region.The frequency of the whistler waves associated with magnetic reconnection is from 10 Hz to 500 Hz in the magnetotail

and the waves are mostly observed in the neutral sheet

plasma sheet and plasma sheet boundary layer（PSBL）.We proved the theory that is whistler waves play an important role in magnetic reconnection when the guide field By is relatively weak by observation

which is consistent with the result of computer simulation.
