a novel parallel equidistant path generation algorithm for composite fiber placement was implemented. This algorithm firstly dispersed the known first path by equal arc on the surface and got some data points. Then at the location of each data point the character of geodesic that was the shortest path in a small domain was used to get new data points on the second path with the direction that was the vector product of the curvilinear tangent vector and the surface normal.Afterward the path passing these new data points was generated through spline curve fitting. At last the placement paths overspread the surface of the mould.By numerical solving the differential equations and using curvilinear arc as independent variable this algorithm can achieve automatic adaptive step adjustment and get high computation precision. The practical examples indicate that this algorithm is simple and the precision requirements of automatic fiber placement technology are satisfied.
