7-dimethylbicyclo heptane-1-carboxylic acid-2-one was prepared from natural(+)-camphor through sulfonating
chlorinating and oxidating. The compound reacted with SOCl2
then reacted with amino alcohol derived from(L)-amino acid to produce eight new chiral amide alcohols. The amide alcohols were characterized by IR
1H NMR and element analysis. These amide alcohols could be used as catalysts in asymmetric addition reaction of diethylzinc to benzaldehyde to provide 1-phenyl-1-propanol in 48.4%-81.5% yield with 0-24.7% enantiomeric excesses.
