The sensitivity of some methods for activity determination of superoxide dismutase was compared. These methods based reduction of nitro blue terrazolium by xanthine oxidase
improved pyrogallol autoxidation
classical pyrogallol antoxidation
nitro blue terrazolium photochemical reduction or epinephrine autoxidation. The factors which effected on the sensitivity of these methods were studied too. The results show that the sensitivity of the method based reduction of nitro blue terrazolium by xanthine oxidase is higher and that the produce rate of superoxide anion radical(O -· 2) has an influence on the sensitivity of these methods.
