Experiments were conducted to degrade methyl orange solution with nanometer rectorite-TiO2 as catalyst in UV light in this study
exploring the effect of pH
initial concentration
and the amount of nanometer rectorite-TiO2 on the ratio of degradation of methyl orange. The catalytic activity of nanometer rectorite-TiO2
nanometer TiO2 which were perpared under the same condition and P25 from Degussa Company in Germany was compared. The results of the experiment indicate that: after reacting for 30 minutes in the UV light with these three kinds of catalyst
the degradation of the methyl orange solution reach 92.9%
50.9%
96.5% respectively. It is demonstrated that the nanometer rectorite-TiO2 has a higher catalystic activity than nanometer TiO2 which is prepared under the same condition
and its catalytic activity approach that of P25 which was the highest catalytic activity in the world now.
