To distinguish formation targets with wide-beam HF radar
this paper presents a selection of frequency hopping interval and amplitude and phase compensation principle
and the echo signal is obtained by virtual hopping approach to improve the ability to detect the target formation in the linear FM high-frequency ground wave radar. The experiment results proved that the virtual hopping approached computational overhead
and with good correlation to the performance it improved angular resolution and range resolution. The linear frequency modulation high-frequency radar has important practical significance in the project.
