A series of TiO2 photoanodes doped with different amounts of Ag nanoparticles(NPS) and prepared by the hydrothermal method were used to make a series of dye-sensitised solar cells(DSSCs).The influence of different amounts of Ag NPS on the structure and performance of DSSCs were investigated.Studies indicated that the incorporation of the Ag NPS significantly enhanced the light absorption of dye loaded on surface of TiO2 film and the short-circuit current density(Jsc).When the content of Ag NPS was 0.20%
the DSSC achieved the best performance with the largest short-circuit current of 10.66 mA/cm2
the highest open-circuit voltage of 697 mV and the photoelectric conversion efficiency of 5.59%
significantly superior to the DSSC with no Ag incorporation.The improved performances were attributed to the enhanced light absorption of dye resulted from the surface plasmon resonance of Ag NPS in photoanode.
